As a kid, there was a movie that I used to watch over and over called the Magic Paintbrush. It was about a guy who had a magic paintbrush. It was pretty nifty.

Seems there have been quite a few adaptations of the tale over the years in fact, most of them based on an old Chinese folk story — though I haven't been able to find the one I used to watch almost religiously. Thinking back on it, that movie may have been what really influenced me in wanting to be an artist.

Then, more recently, I thought about how having a magic paintbrush would probably not be a very good idea before learning how to actually use it…

Also, I used a brush pen for the first time to ink this strip — and it is awesome!! I don't think I've ever been so excited about a pen before (and I have been excited about pens before) I think I actually stared at the lines for a good 5 minutes after finishing, just marvelling at how crisp and rich they were!

It's so true about the brush pen. I used to think the tiny nib pens were the stuff, but now--- *shakes head* There's no going back once you've inked with a brush pen.
